The Exclusion Process

  • Before beginning any bat-proofing project, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection to identify both “Primary” and “Secondary” access points. Primary access points are areas that are being used by the colony for daily ingress and egress into the home. Secondary access points are all of the remaining opening through which the resident bats can enter once the primary areas have been closed up.
  • Closure of all Secondary opening and all but 2 or 3 Primary openings.
  • Installation of Professional “Bat Cones” (One-Way Exit Devices) over the Primary Openings that have been left opened.
  • Removal of the Bat Cones after 5 to 7 days, and closure of the 2 or 3 Primary openings they were covering.
